Résumé

The Transition Sentinel is a versatile and lively enduro bike that excels in a variety of terrains, offering a balanced and intuitive handling experience. Its well-tuned suspension and composed nature at speed make it a standout, though it requires an active riding style to fully exploit its capabilities. While it pedals efficiently and climbs well, some riders may need time to acclimate to its rear wheel traction and find its suspension can be overwhelmed by rapid successive hits.

Pros
  • Excellent all-around performance

  • Versatile and lively trail bike

  • Well-tuned and smooth suspension

  • Balanced and intuitive handling

  • Surprisingly deft climber with satisfying efficiency

Cons
  • Short cockpit for seated pedaling

  • Rear end barely uses its travel, generating little traction

  • Suspension can be overwhelmed by repeated hits in short succession

Key Quotes
There are many good trail bikes available today. I’ve tested many of them, and the new Transition Sentinel is one of the very best.

This is exactly how an enduro bike should climb!

The Sentinel is a bit more subtle until you turn up the volume, and then you realize it's just as bad ass, but it's also more fun than the Enduro in lower angle terrain.

[First Ride] Transition Sentinel V3

oct. 2024 · Ian Collins

In July I attended the launch of a new bike which I’ve given very high praise in its past iteration – the Transition Sentinel. Now in its third time around, the already highly versatile rig boasts updated geometry and improved kinematics as well as downtube storage, fully internal cable routing and a flip chip. I managed to get a few solid rides in on the new bike deep in the middle of Summer. Luckily, that coincided with a one-off rain storm that revitalized the local soil during an atypically dry Summer in Bellingham, Washington. The trails I rode included all

2021 Transition Sentinel XT review – A powerful bike for powerful riders!

janv. 2021 · Christoph Bayer

Our expectations of the Transition Sentinel Carbon were very high for this group test, not least because the guys and gals behind the brand are really good riders themselves. Its specs look extremely promising, but can the bike deliver on the trail?

Points forts
  • Rewards an active riding style

  • Lots of reserves for big impacts

  • Excellent climbing characteristics

Points faibles
  • Punishes a passive riding style

  • Not enough traction in rough terrain

  • Very stiff bike overall

2021 Transition Sentinel Review

janv. 2021

Since it was launched, the Transition Sentinel has been a bellwether for progressive trail bike geometry. The 2021 Sentinel is no exception, but in this case the trend indicates that trail bike geometry is stabilizing. I know this, because I went from the last generation Sentinel to this one, and even though I sized up from a Large to an XL, they're both clearly cut from the same cloth, and I have to say I'm a fan of the tailor.

Bike Review | Transition Sentinel GX

avr. 2020

There’s more than meets the eye with the latest and greatest version of Transition Bikes’ Sentinel. The crisp edges and gentile curves are surely drool-worthy, but if a bike doesn’t ride at least twice as good as it looks, what’s the point? Thankfully, the sorcerers at Transition put the utmost importance on how a bike rides, the reason they’ve gone above and beyond to develop their SBG geometry, adapting their numbers to match the needs of modern-day trail bikes. As for the new Sentinel, the biggest update is an extra 10mm of travel. While this might not seem like much, it brings the bike into a new category of sendability. The steadfast feeling that the company’s bikes are so well known for, simply because it’s perfectly suited to the Northwest, hasn’t wavered, yet they’ve also managed to ramp up the responsiveness and playfulness.
