Résumé
The Specialized Camber is a versatile trail bike that excels in efficiency and handling, offering a blend of speed and rough-terrain confidence. Its FSR suspension and thoughtful design details, like the SWAT storage compartment, make it a standout for riders seeking a do-it-all mountain bike. While some reviewers note a desire for a stiffer fork and slacker geometry for more aggressive riding, the Camber is praised for its climbing prowess and descending capabilities.
FSR suspension for consistent traction and comfort
SWAT door storage compartment for convenience
Efficient pedaling and climbing performance
Slackened head angle and shorter chainstays for improved handling
Versatile for a range of trail conditions
Some testers desired a stiffer fork for aggressive riding
Steering can feel twitchy initially
Not ideal for extremely rowdy terrain
I picked the Camber Expert Carbon EVO 29 as my favorite of all 34 bikes in that year’s test issue.
Specialized’s Camber Comp Carbon 29 blends mile-munching speed with surprising rough-stuff confidence
The Camber is brilliantly well put together.

The 2017 Specialized Camber Comp 29 is still a rapid, fun bike though, and with tweaks to the specification it could bump it’s rating up a notch.
Fast, fun ride.
Rear suspension lack support.

The Camber’s 27.5-inch wheel platform accommodates a wide range of rider sizes, and it steamrolls over just about everything. 130 millimeters of travel

Slotting in between the Epic XC race bike and the long-travel Stumpjumper, the Camber aims to be the trail bike for all.

There’s something to be said for getting a kid started on a fully rigid hardtail. But if your local trails are super gnarly, there’s also a pretty darn good argument for getting them suspended as quickly as possible. Traction aside, it’s more about comfort and safety, assuming the weight penalty isn’t too grand. If you …

The Specialized Camber is neither a purebred competition bike nor an aggressive trail bike, so what exactly is it? Could it represent the compromise?

A superbly thought-out high-speed, low-stress all-rounder for fans of traditional handling. Buy if you want a fantastically well-rounded trail bike that oozes traditional virtues
Capable and consistently controlled considering its travel and initially twitchy feel, neutrally-efficient pedalling, low weight and 29er wheels maximise speed and shrink distance, outstandingly user-friendly details
We’d like it even more with a slacker head angle and stiffer fork for opening up its aggro potential

The smartly redesigned Specialized Camber Comp 29 proves that the ‘Big Red S’ actually stands for ‘Slayer.’

Now a few seasons into its evolution, the Camber platform has seen some big changes for 2016; it’s now available in both 650B and 29er wheel sizes, with two different travel lengths (130mm for 650B, 120mm for 29″ wheels), and the frame and shock technology has leapt ahead massively. Our test bike is the 120mm-travel Expert …
