Ride1Up Prodigy V2 Review: High-End Kit With A Low-End Price

nov. 2024

Check out the Ride1Up Prodigy V2—a commuter-ready e-bike with a Brose mid-drive motor, solid components, and versatile performance for urban and weekend rides.

Observations
  • The Brose TF Sprinter mid-drive motor has a smooth power delivery with 90 Nm of torque. It’s quiet, responsive, and provides enough punch for both city streets and steep climbs.

  • The Tektro Orion 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes are powerful and reliable, giving you the Prodigy V2 control even on fast descents. A welcomed braking setup not often seen at this price.

  • Whether you go for the belt-driven Enviolo CVT hub or the traditional microSHIFT 9-speed setup, both options deliver solid performance. The CVT offers smooth, maintenance-free shifting, while the 9-speed gives you more direct control on varied terrain.

  • Fully equipped with an air coil suspension fork, fenders, a rear rack, integrated lights, and Maxxis Rekon gumwalls, the Prodigy V2 feels built for daily commuting, a weekend ride and even the occasional off-road shortcut to the office. See Latest Price

sept. 2023 · Forrest Woolman

Style, Looks, and Quality for Riding in the City and Off-road In this review for the Ride 1Up Prodigy e-bike, we cover all the important parts that make this a great lightweight, long range, quality built, all-terrain e-bike, at an affordable price. The highlight features of our XC variant include an energy efficient motor that

Points forts
  • Hallmark Ride1UP value: Brose motor, 120mm suspension air fork, Maxxis tires for less than we’d expect to pay.

  • Good pedal support from the Brose 250w mid-drive motor.

  • 50-mile range is good for a bike this size, thanks to the 14 Ah battery.

  • Torque sensor delivers smooth motor engagement.

  • Battery management system gives you more mileage per charge.

  • Light frame, ergonomics, and components makes this bike comfortable, easy to control.

  • Balanced gearing eliminates ghost pedaling and low gear difficulties.

  • Our test XC model is suitable for all terrain riding thanks to the standard Maxxis tires.

  • 120mm air fork suspension (on our XC model) makes handling rougher terrain easier on your body.

Points faibles
  • The lowest PAS level provided some assistance, but it could feel a little sputtery at times. The other levels offered constant levels of assistance though.
