Résumé

The Revel Ranger is a versatile cross-country bike that excels in efficiency, agility, and stability, making it suitable for a wide range of riding conditions. Its CBF suspension design offers a balanced ride, performing well both uphill and downhill. While it's praised for its lightweight and component selection, some riders note limitations in tire clearance and suspension suppleness.

Pros
  • Efficient and agile suspension performance

  • Lightweight design enhances climbing and acceleration

  • Versatile for cross-country through to trail riding

  • High-quality component selection

  • Stable and predictable handling on descents

Cons
  • Limited tire clearance with 2.6” tires

  • Suspension can feel firm or lack suppleness for some riders

  • High price point

  • Front end can feel long on climbs

  • Not the lightest in its class

Key Quotes
It’s clear that the relatively safe geometry, in combination with the CBF, results in a quick and efficient ride.

The Ranger V2 is just as capable as ever, but it’s faster and feels more laser-focused whether carving lines through singletrack or hunting down a technical KOM.

2023 Revel Ranger Review

avr. 2023 · Neil Beltchenko

The 2023 Revel Ranger was just revamped and we had the chance to review this short-travel full-sus 29er through its paces before the launch

Points forts
  • Efficient suspension maximizes momentum to power through challenging situations that might otherwise cause a hang-up

  • Very lightweight; better than most in its class

  • Climbs exceptionally well

  • Descends better than you’d expect from the geometry and weight class

  • Great components selection, albeit expensive

Points faibles
  • Despite the claimed 2.6” tire clearance, it’s really tight (I had some rub during a death mud encounter with 2.6″ tires)

  • A slightly larger frame triangle space would be preferable

  • 30mm rims would be more versatile than the specced RW27s

  • The techy/industrial design might not be for everyone

  • Expensive

With 115mm of travel, the Ranger seems fit for everything from cross-country to trail riding – how is Tom getting on with his custom build?

Points forts
  • Cable routing was nice and simple

  • Mix of dependable parts should make maintenance easy

Points faibles
  • Freehub is a touch loud for my tastes

Revel Bikes Introduces the Ranger Brunch Ride Edition

sept. 2020

It was only a matter of time before someone spoofed Yeti’s Lunch Ride models. For those of us who’ve forgotten what it’s like not to work from home, Yeti’s Lunch Ride bikes were inspired by employee builds that were slightly burlier versions of existing models for the quick loops they’d knock out during lunch. We…

A known clearance issue exists between the mounting bolts on Shimano XT M8100 / SLX M7100 chainrings and the Revel Ranger frame. If you plan to use a Shimano XT or SLX crankset with your Ranger frame, you will need to use a 3rd party, direct mount chainring with Boost spacing (52mm chainline, 3mm offset). We recommend the 32t Wolftooth Direct Mount Chainring for Shimano Cranks.
