Privateer’s new enduro bike puts function over fashion, and feels practical and purposeful.

juil. 2023 · Henry Quinney
Fergus Ryan was kind enough to tell us a little bit about his new ride.
avr. 2023 · Ben Haworth
4-bar is one of the oldest designs in biking (hey, it clearly works), so it was always the geometry that was the USP of the Privateer 161 GX.

janv. 2023 · Robert Johnston
The Privateer 161 still ranks highly in the enduro scene thanks to its purposeful suspension kinematics and nicely balanced geometry.
Great value
Balanced geometry
Suspension performance
Not quite as nicely finished as some
Seat tube angle may be too steep

janv. 2022
Privateer’s ethos has always been rider-focused, providing an offering that is race-ready and doesn’t break the bank. The 161 is a full race bike designed to be fast, reliable and accessible to all (notwithstanding COVID’s effects on the global supply chain).

oct. 2021 · Alan Muldoon
If imitation really is the highest form of flattery, then Raw must have blushed when they saw the Privateer 161; it looks like a Madonna.
Progressive sizing and suspension
Not the lightest

sept. 2020 · Seb Stott
This is an ongoing score and could change as I spend more time on the bike over its 12 month testing period
Predictable suspension performance and super-stable geometry goads you to charge harder through the toughest terrain
Good pedalling efficiency and steep seat angle help demolish punchy climbs
Stretched out geometry demands an authoritative riding style
Bike's initial creaking and imperfect shock alignment are frustrating, but fixable
