Résumé
The Norco Fluid FS is celebrated for its versatile and fun trail performance, offering a balanced geometry and well-tuned suspension that excels in both climbing and descending. Its playful character and impressive bump absorption make it a favorite among riders of various skill levels. While it may carry some weight and have minor component drawbacks, its overall capability and value are highly praised.
Agile yet confidence-inspiring geometry
Supple, traction-rich suspension
Excellent climbing traction
Poppy, playful character
High-end components at a lower price point
Deserves more powerful brakes
Could do with a tougher rear tyre
Chunky weight
Some pedal bob
Lacks bite-point adjustment in brakes
The Fluid is a stunningly capable trail bike. It may be relatively short on travel, but it’s big on personality.
This is a solid all-round trail bike, and it’s a great example of how considered geometry and well-tuned suspension can offer loads of capability without having to resort to excessive amounts of travel.
The Norco Fluid FS A1 is easily one of the best trail bikes I’ve had the pleasure of riding for many a year.

Going with a carbon front triangle saves 600 grams, but is it worth it?
Composed, comfortable ride quality
Well-rounded suspension performance
Excellent geometry and size-scaling
Alloy bike rides just as well, presents better value
Grippy, comfortable climbing gives it more of a long-travel feel

While not the flashiest, this is an incredibly fun bike to ride, which flatters your skills
Agile yet confidence-inspiring geometry
Feels as though it has more travel than it does
Excellent climbing traction
Deserves more powerful brakes
Could do with a tougher rear tyre
Not everyone will get on with the front tread pattern

When this Norco Fluid FS A1 arrived at STW HQ, I said "Hurray for metal trail bikes. Especially metal trail bikes with decent geometry."

sept. 2023 · Ron Koch
The travel and geometry are similar to Norco’s carbon-framed Optic, but the ride characteristics of the Fluid are unique to this bike and stay true to the feel we’ve come to expect from the Canadian mega-brand.

The Norco Fluid FS 4 is a ripping trail bike at an outstanding price point. This rad singletrack slayer delivers a very confident and capable ride, with...
Extremely capable on the descents
Comfortable climbing abilities
Solid build spec
Long wheelbase might not be ideal for some trail networks
Not a particularly spritely climber

The Norco Fluid FS Carbon matches the geometry and kinematic of its aluminum counterpart in lighter package with size-specific carbon layup

Norco’s revamped Fluid FS A1 made waves when released in the summer of 2022. This no-nonsense trail bike is packed with features and components normally reserved for more expensive options and the global bike media took notice.
Excellent component spec for the price (Fox Factory 34 fork, Shimano XT drivetrain, TRP Trail Evo brakes)
Modern geometry with size-specific chainstay length and seat tube angle
Balanced and comfortable riding position
Active suspension provides gobs of traction
Playful and nimble feel, easy to manual and pump
Versatile for both trail riding and bikepacking
Accessory mounts under top tube for frame bag
Great value compared to similarly equipped bikes
Suspension wallows when hammering, lacks pedaling efficiency compared to DW-link designs
Vittoria tires have soft sidewalls that fold under aggressive cornering
Fox 34 fork can be overwhelmed at high speeds

This Winter, Norco sent us a mid-duty bike which happens to be their most high value offering – the Fluid FS A1. A 29″ trail bike with 140mm travel up front and 130mm travel out back, the Fluid features a blend of parts that vary from budget to flagship, all while boasting highly refined aesthetics. Thanks to its polished welds one could easily mistake it for a carbon fiber frame. In any case, this bike has a highly appealing mix of components with modern geometry and promising features at an excellent price of just $3,999 USD – let’s see how
