A Versatile Enduro Bike Built for Every Adventure
12 different geometry settings provide a tangible on-trail difference
Generous frame protection makes it exceptionally quiet
RockShox Ultimate level suspension is hard to come by at this price
Short dropper post, especially for a 160/170 mm bike
A few components (SRAM DB8 brakes, OEM wheels) do stand up to the level of abuse the rest of the bike can handle

The Alpine Trail moves to a four-bar layout, with twelve geometry configurations to choose from.
Meaningfully adjustable geometry makes it adaptable
Very capable on its intended terrain
Steep seat tube angle feels great on steep climbs
Plenty of seat post insertion depth for long travel droppers
Small cannot mount a water bottle
On the heavier side
Poor performance of the RockShox Zeb Ultimate (at low pressure) lets the XR AXS model down

The Marin Alpine Trail E1 has a 160mm travel X-Fusion Trace 36 RC air-sprung fork up front and a RockShox Super Deluxe R coil sprung rear.

Marin has stepped up its Alpine Trail bikes in some big ways, including adding a carbon version that could very well be one of the best bang-for-your-buck

juil. 2021 · Ed Thomsett
Big fun on a (relatively) small budget
Geometry tweaks make it an even better descender
Super-active rear suspension
Worthy of upgrading when you have the cash
Annoying cable rattle
A few minor spec grumbles
Heavy for a carbon bike
