Résumé

The Kona Process 153 is a versatile enduro bike that excels on steep and technical trails, offering a confident and natural feel on descents. Its geometry strikes a good balance between stability and maneuverability, though it may feel less energetic on mellower terrain. While the bike's suspension performs well, some components like brakes and tires could see improvements.

Pros
  • Excels on steep and technical trails

  • Confident and natural feel on descents

  • Good balance between stability and maneuverability

  • Comfortable climbing position

  • Supple rear suspension

Cons
  • Less energetic on mellower trails

  • Underpowered brakes for some riders

  • Mixed component quality

  • External cabling not very neat

  • Heavy for some preferences

Kona Process 153 DL 29 Review: Mellow Yellow

juil. 2022 · James Vincent

The latest Kona Process 153 rolls on 29in wheels and sits in the middle of the Process range; Process X on one side, Process 134 on the other.

Points forts
  • The geometry. Like all Konas it’s sorted

  • The rear suspension

  • That yellow

Points faibles
  • Average brakes

  • And fork

  • Heavy for what it is

Review: 2022 Kona Process 153 DL 29

févr. 2022 · Henry Quinney

The Process 153's geometry is modern without going to extremes, which adds to its versatility. It's also very yellow.

Points forts
  • Balanced geometry that has an emphasis on trail riding

  • Comfortable climber, especially on more gradual climbs

  • A good frame that would be worthy of future upgrades

Points faibles
  • Shock tune didn’t offer enough support

  • For a bike that isn't an enduro bike, it's not that light

  • Brakes are underpowered for the bike's capabilities

Kona Process 153 DL 29 review

avr. 2021 · Robin Weaver

Not the sprightliest on mellower trails, but comes alive on steep, chunky stuff. This build doesn’t offer the best value for money, though

Points forts
  • Really comes to life when the going gets steep and rough

  • Great geometry

  • Winning tyre combo

Points faibles
  • Not great value for money

  • Doesn’t feel the most energetic on mellower trails

  • SRAM G2 brakes are okay, but I’d prefer more powerful Codes

Kona Process 153 CR/DL 29: first ride review - MBR

juin 2020 · James Bracey

With chunky tubing and a tidal wave of travel with the Kona Process 153 CR/DL 29, is Kona out to prove that bigger is better?

Points forts
  • Playful, agile ride. Specification needs nothing changing.

Points faibles
  • The rear suspension can feel a little over-worked on rockier trails. The price has shot up.

Bike Review | Kona Process 153 CR/DL 29

déc. 2019

I’ll happily admit I wasn’t immediately convinced with 29” wheels. The feelings of a snappy and playful bike have always resonated with me more than trucking capabilities and rollover capacity. So, I’ve kind of stuck to 27.5” wheels. For most of the 29” bikes that I’ve ridden, it’s hard to not notice the extra inch-and-a-half in diameter, both on the way up and the way down. So, naturally, when I jumped on the Kona Process 153 CR/DL 29, I knew it’d take a lot to change my mind about this whole wheel-size thing. However, the last time I a rode a Process 153, it was the first iteration of the company’s 27.5” model and I was immediately smitten. The thing cornered like a dream yet trucked like a train. It delivered a new standard of playfulness that I hoped every bike afterward would live up to. And so, due to the faith I had in Kona after that experience, I was as curious as I was happy to see how they adapted the Process 153 to work with 29” wheels. As a company rooted in Ferndale, WA, just north of Bellingham, Kona is well aware of the ways in which modern trail bikes are being pushed to the limit, and they’ve certainly done a good job in keeping up with the times. The Process itself is marketed as a “go-everywhere, do-anything workhorse” and its credentials have been continually updated with the ever-changing specs of the industry. So, the question is, can Kona translate the ethos of the Process between wheel sizes? There’s only one way to find out.
