Résumé

The Giant Reign is a versatile trail bike with a mixed reception, praised for its competitive pricing, lightweight design, and active Maestro suspension system. However, it faces criticism for its uphill pedaling efficiency and some component limitations. The bike shines in fun, active riding scenarios but may reach its limits on rougher terrains.

Pros
  • Competitive pricing for its level of finish and components

  • Lightweight design with a quality aluminium chassis

  • Active and cushioned Maestro suspension system

  • Fun and poppy ride quality for active riders

  • Improved geometry and increased rear wheel travel for enduro racing

Cons
  • Uphill pedaling efficiency is lacking

  • Some components like the fork and tyres could be improved

  • Suspension reaches its limit on very rough tracks

  • Sizing and seat tube length may exclude some riders

Key Quotes
The Reign’s poor manners under power feel more a consequence of a slightly egg-shaped and inefficient pedal cycle

mai 2023 · Blake Nielsen

Giant’s engineering team completely overhauled the Reign Advanced for 2023 with a frame redesign that has now moved away from the somewhat ‘freeride’ style geometry numbers that the Reign has adopted in the past, and instead they set out to create a purebred, no-compromise enduro race bike! Reviewer // Blake Nielsen  Photos // Matt Staggs Let’s get straight to the point, does it seem like they’ve hit the brief and how much ‘speedier’ is the bike now compared the previous […]

Giant Reign 29 1 review

avr. 2020 · Robin Weaver

The new Reign offers a very lively, dynamic ride but get it into the really rough stuff and it feels more like a long-travel trail bike than a mini downhill rig

Points forts
  • Fox fork and shock offer plenty of useful adjustment and a really smooth, controlled feel

  • Decent geometry

Points faibles
  • Dropper post needs to be longer on the medium

  • Very direct feel with quite a bit of feedback so not the comfiest bike on rough trails
