Key Quotes
The Wreckoning is a little more al dente, which is especially impressive because our model–every model–came with a coil shock.

Dare-you-faster character and berm-slashing agility make the Wreckoning stand above all other enduro rigs for big-mountain riding.

Up, down, and upside-down, the Wreckoning doesn’t care which way it’s going. It just gets there fast in classic, low-down dirty Evil style.

Evil Wreckoning GX: first ride review - MBR

févr. 2021 · Mick Kirkman

Evil’s introduction to the new Evil Wreckoning sums it up perfectly: “Up, down, and upside-down, the Wreckoning doesn’t care which way it’s going."

Points forts
  • Undefinable, grin-inducing X-Factor. Stiff and solid pop-machine that also looks amazing.

Points faibles
  • The price. Brakes could be more powerful. Super Boost a potential headache for part swappers. Needs a tougher-casing rear tyre.

Evil Wreckoning GX Eagle first ride review

janv. 2021 · Mick Kirkman

29er enduro/mini DH rig with the feel of a 650b play bike

Points forts
  • Simultaneously manages to safely mash through everything at warp speed while being totally engaging and reactive on jumps and berms

  • Looks the nuts

Points faibles
  • The price (although it’s no more than other boutique bikes)

  • Super Boost rear end limits wheel options for frame-only buyers and upgraders

  • Single-pivot rear end isn’t as active under braking as linkage designs

Bike Review | 2020 Evil Wreckoning

juil. 2020 · Spencer Johnson

The Day of Wreckoning is upon us. And what a joy it is. Evil Bikes didn’t hold back the squish on its updated long-travel 29er, with 170 millimeters of travel in the front and 166 millimeters in the rear. All this travel, combined with the 29-inch wheels, gives the Wreckoning more in common with a downhill bike from a few years ago than its most recent iteration—especially while descending. With all of this travel, one might expect a particularly mushy pedaling experience while climbing, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. As soon as you apply pedal force to the DELTA-link rear suspension it creates an amazingly firm platform that encourages you to get out of the saddle and pedal like the world is actually ending. In all my time on the bike, I never even considered touching the lockout lever. The bike features a 76.5-degree seat-tube angle that effectively put my body position right where it belonged on climbs—between the two wheels. But what makes the Wreckoning feel truly unique is its exceptionally short chainstay: At 430 millimeters, the wheel is crammed right behind the bottom bracket, keeping the wheelbase stable and allowing you to maneuver tight switchbacks with ease. Of all the long-travel bikes I’ve recently ridden, this one feels the smallest.
