Résumé
The Canyon Lux cross-country bike family is praised for its lightweight design, efficient climbing, and modern geometry, making it a strong contender in the XC race category. However, its suspension performance and comfort levels receive mixed reviews, with some noting a lack of sensitivity in technical terrain. The bike's versatility is sometimes questioned, especially outside race conditions, and the absence of dropper posts on some builds is a common critique.
Lightweight design with efficient climbing capabilities
Modern geometry for improved handling
High-quality component specification
Excellent for XC racing
Clean and integrated cable routing
Suspension lacks sensitivity in technical terrain
Absence of dropper posts on some builds
Mixed reviews on comfort and versatility
Internal cable routing complicates maintenance
The Lux Trail really isn’t up to the benchmark standard we expect from the Koblenz crew.
rocketing up the climbs while being ready to bomb down technical descents
It’s fast off the line, ruthlessly efficient on the climbs and rewards hard pedalling efforts with no loss of power.

The Lux World Cup is claimed to be the lightest in the world, with the frame weighing just 1,535 grams.

The Canyon Lux Trail isn't a short-travel trail bike; it's more precisely a long-travel XC mountain bike.
Lightweight and efficient pedaler
Comfortable and capable descender
Great value
Geometry is not particularly progressive
Needs a better dropper remote
Only one frame color available with the CF 7 build

juin 2022 · James Huang
It’s longer and slacker like everything else these days, but don’t call it a downcountry bike.

Is Canyon’s half new and half old Lux Trail CF8 the full package when it comes to downcountry mountain biking?
Excellent AXS wireless component spec for the money
Benchmark DT Swiss carbon wheel and Maxxis tire team
Combined suspension lockout
Stretched straight-line stability
Double big bottle space
Super neat chain keeper
Tidy steering lock stopper
Tool free wheel removal
Under leveraged shock is too stiff
Overly linear suspension feel once moving
Tangible power loss when pedaling
Excessive seat tube height restricts size options
Long reach needs a shorter stem/steeper seat angle
Harsh bar feel
Direct buy only

Why does Daz think this Canyon Lux Trail CF 8 might be the best value bike in this category that you can buy?

nov. 2021
The Canyon Lux Trail CF 8 suspension is firm, fast, and freakin' fun but the geometry is too rooted in its XC-Race roots to be fairly marketed as a proper trail bike.
Excellent rear suspension performance, efficient and capable
Great climbing performance, floats up smooth and technical trails
Clean, simple, and seamless frame integration
Two usable in-frame water bottles
AXS Reverb dropper post is excellent and easy to remove for storage
Strong potential for upgrade to a very capable trail bike
Overall suffers from being an evolutionary step, marketed as trail bike but is XC race bike
Long seat mast limits dropper post insertion and fun on steeper terrain
Stock components: terrible grips, bladed saddle, oversized chainring, flat bar roadie (Level) brakes
Geometry: relatively short wheelbase, steep head tube angle (67.5°), not ideal for aggressive descending
Suspension setup finicky, requires careful tuning
Battery and wireless remote management for AXS
Not as fun on wet/greasy trails; becomes a survival battle
SID Select+ fork could be stiffer; Pike Ultimate would be an improvement

Most brands just add travel to their XC bikes to make a trail version, but the Canyon Lux Trail has an entirely new front triangle.
