Resumen
The Trek Supercaliber is a standout in the cross-country category, praised for its innovative full suspension system, lightweight design, and efficient pedaling performance. It excels in climbing and handling, offering a responsive and snappy ride quality that rivals hardtails. However, its limited rear travel and steep geometry may not suit all riders, especially on rough descents.
Innovative full suspension system
Lightweight design
Efficient pedaling performance
Responsive ride quality
Excellent climbing efficiency
Limited rear travel
Steep geometry on descents
Lack of a dropper post
Proprietary rear shock
Higher operating forces for shifting
The Supercaliber is one of the fastest and most efficient XC bikes currently on the market.
The Trek Supercaliber is the definition of an off-road speed all-rounder.
I felt like I could effortlessly carry momentum over rolling terrain—pushed by the bike rather than pushing it.

Looking for an end-of-summer riding goal in a season void of events and races due to COVID-19, my wife and I landed on an ambitious project. Colorado’s Leadville 100 MTB and the 144-mile SBT GRVL (Steamboat Gravel) had originally been scheduled for the same weekend in August, and inspired by various “virtual” alternatives to in-person events, we made plans for a Vermont-based LeadBoat. The mountain bike day, a 105-mile loop we plotted around Mt. Mansfield, Vermont’s tallest summit and the view from our doorstep, would link together long stretches of dirt road with as much singletrack as possible. It also would be the longest mountain bike ride I’d ever done and require a lightweight bike that could readily tackle 100 miles and more than 10,000 feet of elevation gain.

But with just 60mm of travel, why would you choose it over a more conventional XC race bike? We put the Trek Supercaliber 9.9 to the test to find out - read on for our in-depth review.

We pull apart Trek's IsoStrut shock system to see how it works, then take the new Supercaliber XC race bike on the trails to see how fast it can go!

There's no better quarantine than the pain cave. Our XC expert Lydia Tanner spent a whole lotta time there testing the new Trek Supercaliber.
