2001 was a notable year for Rocky Mountain Bicycles. In October of that year, the Canadian brand’s team rider and prophetic pioneer of freeride, Wade Simmons, smashed, crashed and hucked his way to victory at the inaugural Red Bull Rampage in Virgin, Utah. That same year also saw the release of Rocky Mountain’s Slayer — a “trail” bike before the term had entered our vernacular.
