The Rascal’s versatility is incredible, covering such a wide range of terrain and riding styles that it sincerely feels like 'one bike to rule them all.'BIKEPACKING.com
The Rascal V2 might just be the best articulation of that divide that I’ve spent time on.
The bike exudes more confidence than a 130mm bike should.

The little Rascal is back with its CBF suspension, except this SL frameset features a lighter carbon layup.
Rewards energy put in.
Supple, effective, comfortable suspension
Responsive, yet balanced handling.
A quiet descender.
Seat tube angle isn't as steep as some may like.
No adjustments (if that matters to you).
No in-frame storage (if that matters to you).

This spring, Revel announced a couple of new bikes: the electrified ReRun, the longer-travel Ritual, and a (sort-of) new Rascal with its new SL frame option. And then Revel went away. And then it came back with a new, old owner. Revel’s founder, Adam Miller, bought the brand back from the private equity group he sold it to in 2021. But all of that is a bit of a convoluted distraction from the Rascal SL. Back in February 2024, Revel released the Rascal V2. I reviewed that bike (in a size XL) for another outlet, and my takeaway was that in a world full of 130-millimeter bikes that seem hell-bent on cosplaying as enduro rigs, the Rascal was a nice alternative—a trail bike that just wanted to ride mellow trails really well. And then Revel announced the new SL version of the Rascal, which keeps all the same geometry and features as the V2 I reviewed, but uses a new carbon layup to shave 200 grams off of the frame. It’s like a Yeti Turq, or a Santa Cruz CC, or a Specialized S-Works. The same bike, but lighter. I’ve been riding the new SL version of the Rascal, and my biggest takeaway is that feels like the most obvious possible evolution for this bike, and it makes it “better” in exactly the way I’d like. Revel Rascal SL Details, Travel: 130 mm (rear) 140 mm (front), Wheel Size: Mixed 29”, Size Tested: Large, Build Tested: XO Transmission, Head Tube Angle: 65.5°, Measured Weight: 31.0 lbs (14.06 kg), MSRP: $6,899

One of the most playful trail bikes sees weight savings and updated build options, including the latest SRAM Motive brakes and mechanical Transmission drivetrains.

The Revel Rascal SL is better than ever with an even lighter frame thanks to some new carbon layup tricks.

Best all-around full-suspension mountain bike I’ve pedaled
Rear wheel tracking is impressive
Fantastic separation between brake force and bike performance
Good looking and subtle color
Stiff in the right places
Sizing options aren’t ideal for average male height
Not great frame storage
Would have loved a few more millimeters of front-center length
Not enough clearance for 2.6″ tires in muddy conditions

The bike is best suited to the rider who sees a lot of elevation on a day-to-day basis riding trails that range from flow to moderate tech or even light enduro and downhill if ridden in moderation.
