Resumen
The Privateer 141 is a burly, no-nonsense enduro bike designed for riders who prioritize durability and performance over aesthetics. It excels in rough, technical terrain with its planted ride quality, plush suspension, and confident handling, though its weight can be a drawback on smoother sections. The bike's robust build and competitive pricing make it a standout for aggressive riders, but it may not suit those looking for a nimble or lightweight trail bike.
Planted and balanced in loose, rocky terrain
Buttery plush rear suspension at 30% sag
Super confident and predictable front-rear readability
Competitive pricing
Extremely durable build quality
Heavy, making it ponderous and energy sapping on smooth sections
Not nimble, especially after a couple of hours of riding
Weight makes itself felt both uphill and when muscling things around on the downs
This is a burly bike for people who think their Ripmo AFs and their aluminum Smugglers are feeling a bit flimsy.
Think of the 141 as the adjustable wrench of trail bikes - it will get all of the jobs done but isn’t the most luxurious tool in the shed.Pinkbike
Privateer have delivered what the people want: a no-nonsense mountain bike with contemporary geometry that will work in any trail setting.Pinkbike

Privateer's "trail bike" is not for the faint of heart nor the weak of limb
Planted and balanced at high speed in loose, rocky terrain
Buttery plush rear suspension with confident front-rear readability
Excellent technical climbing ability for a 37-pound bike
Reassuring tractability and responsiveness in suspension early in travel
Massive pivot hardware and durable build
External cable routing for ease of maintenance
Adjustable chainstay length and wheel size configuration
Bitey Hayes Dominion A4 brakes
Very heavy, around 37 pounds
Ponderous and energy-sapping on smooth, buffed trails
Feels heavy and cumbersome after a couple hours of riding
Not nimble; weight is noticeable uphill and when muscling on descents
No UDH (Universal Derailleur Hanger)

The 141 is a burly trail bike that was designed with reliability in mind.
Ability to run either rear wheel size or shock type
Robust, straightforward hardware
Excellent rear wheel tracking
On the heavy side for a trail bike
Drivetrain can impose some undesired feedback at the rear wheel
Not UDH compatible

Built for Speed, Privateer, amateur professional, racing for Team Mom and Dad—call it what you will but the idea is the same. Outside of pro mountain biking’s select upper echelon of well-paid, well-supported athletes, many if not most competitors are barely scraping by. This often means bumming rides to races, packing extra bodies into hotel rooms and cashing in favors when your gear needs servicing or replacement.
Value-conscious build with high-end suspension, solid brakes, good tires
Stable and planted at high speeds on descents
Horst-Link suspension delivers smooth performance
Lengthy chainstays provide stability and control
Progressive geometry and cost-effective components
Heavy at 34 lbs, not for climbing or KOMs
Sluggish and less maneuverable at slow speeds and tight turns
Requires focused climbing technique due to weight and slack geometry
Off/on brake feel from Magura MT5 brakes
Not ideal for beginner riders

Companies like Privateer that push design outside the norm are favorites of ours, especially if it’s in the name of racing.

The Privateer 141 brings everything we liked about the 161 but puts it in a more trail friendly package. While it may not be the prettiest or lightest of bikes out there the Privateer 141’s user friendliness and excellent kit list, combined with its forward-thinking geometry result in a bike that's as versatile as it is fun, making it one of the best trail mountain bikes you can buy. Is this the ultimate trail bike?

Privateer 141 SLX/XT review: UK-designed trail bike promises to bring same big sizing and aggressive geometry concept as its 161.
