Bikes, such as the Vitus Escarpe use a similar design to good effect, and while the Lapierre displays similar traits (good small bump sensitivity, ‘bottomless’ feel through bigger hits), it’s not quite as smooth as the Vitus, partly thanks to the use of a more basic RockShox Deluxe RT shock.. .

The new Lapierre Zesty AM 327 is long, low and lithe.
Fast and playful on the smoother trail centre runs. Decent value for money and comes with a dropper as standard.
Chunky-looking frame is a tad heavy, garish colour, felt a little too long on a couple of really tight switchbacks.
