Riding the 2021 Knolly Warden LT

nov 2020

Knolly has a new series of bikes out. I've been out on the Warden LT, and here to report on what it's like.

Máximos
  • Snappy and agile handling, especially on tight technical trails

  • Stiff and precise aluminum chassis

  • Excellent Fox Float X2 and Fox 38 suspension components

  • Well-thought-out build kit overall

  • Fun and playful freeride character

Mínimos
  • Stock Maxxis EXO+ tires inadequate (frequent flats, harsh ride)

  • Rear suspension not progressive enough – bottoms out easily

  • Bushing friction initially, though freed up over time

  • Short rear center makes bike feel compact; requires active weight shifting

  • Geometry feels a bit dated for 2020

  • Bike noisy initially (seatpost creak, cable rattle, front end creak)

  • Derailleur exploded mysteriously; 157mm rear spacing may increase derailleur strikes

  • No bash guard included
