Summary
The Specialized Status is celebrated for its phenomenal performance and affordability, making it a standout in the downhill category. Its well-designed frame and predictable FSR linkage suspension offer a balanced and smooth ride, though some reviews note limitations with budget components. The bike excels in bike parks and on jump trails, with a geometry that appeals to both novices and experts.
Affordable price
Phenomenal bike performance
Well-designed frame
Predictable FSR linkage
Great suspension
Budget end shock and fork
Not the lightest bike
Brakes could be more powerful
The Specialized Status II may not offer the bling factor of some other steeds in this category, but it’ll line up and smoke bikes that cost twice as much.
The Status 2 thrives in the bike park, whether hucking drops or searching for flow on jump trails.
Without sounding too gushy, this is one fantastic bike.

Specialized's Status II is one of the most affordable DH bikes on the market, but it’s not just a bargain—it’s a phenomenal bike at any price.

Safe, stable and dependable, but the budget fork and lack of rear end stiffness make it more of a park bike than a true downhill racer
