Summary
The Revel Ranger is a versatile cross-country bike praised for its efficient suspension, lightweight frame, and exceptional climbing capabilities. It descends better than expected for its geometry and weight class, offering a balanced ride that encourages pushing hard on climbs and handling technical descents with confidence. However, it faces some criticism for tight tire clearance and a design that may not appeal to everyone.
Efficient suspension maximizes momentum
Very lightweight; better than most in its class
Climbs exceptionally well
Descends better than expected for its geometry and weight class
Great components selection
Tight tire clearance despite claimed 2.6” capacity
Design might not appeal to everyone
Expensive
It’s clear that the relatively safe geometry, in combination with the CBF, results in a quick and efficient ride.BIKEPACKING.com
I absolutely loved the Ranger. After every ride I came home raving about it.
The Ranger V2 is just as capable as ever, but it’s faster and feels more laser-focused whether carving lines through singletrack or hunting down a technical KOM.

Excellent CBF suspension: efficient climbing, active braking, great traction
More capable geometry without losing the Ranger’s quick feel
Handles bikepacking loads well, and still has good frame storage
Still 2.6″ clearance with ample mud clearance
Big dropper compatibility
Love the Dissector tire spec
Premium pricing with no real budget option
Tricky sizing for tweeners
170mm cranks on all sizes
Transmission complicates rack use
Lots of bearings that will eventually need to be replaced

A hard-hitting short-travel full-suspension bike from Colorado-based Revel Bikes.
Absolutely gorgeous
Excellent handling
Highly capable suspension
Very good pedaling performance.
Kinda heavy
Firm-feeling suspension lacks liveliness
Thermoplastic wheel upgrade is a hard sell.

The latest Revel Ranger keeps the best attributes about the first version but makes it a better bike for the long haul.
Great suspension manners
Stiff and responsive frame
Eagle Transmission compatible, tougher frame
Front end can feel long on climbs

With 115mm of travel, the Ranger seems fit for everything from cross-country to trail riding – how is Tom getting on with his custom build?
Cable routing was nice and simple
Mix of dependable parts should make maintenance easy
Freehub is a touch loud for my tastes
