Cyclocross season is upon us. Do you need a dedicated cyclocross race bike? We put the Bombtrack Tension C to the test.
Lightweight frame (claimed 1060g for size S)
Race-ready out of the box with SRAM Force 1 groupset
Quick steering and lively feel on smooth surfaces
Damps vibration reasonably well
Ample tire clearance for a cyclocross race bike (37mm stated, fits 42mm)
Higher bottom bracket aids pedal clearance over obstacles
Includes a 36-tooth cassette cog for easier gearing
Solid wheelset (Hunt 4 Season) that is easy to set up tubeless
Front wheel gets deflected on bumpy terrain
Narrower tires require adaptation on rough trails
Bottom bracket height may cause pedal strikes on steep ride-ups if speed is not optimal
Lower bottom bracket would inspire more confidence in tight turns
SRAM Double-Tap shifting mechanism not the reviewer's personal favorite
Hunt 4 Season wheelset is a bit heavy
