Good things made even better – the new Nukeproof Mega 290C Pro is the logical evolution of its aluminium predecessor. It's so good that it's been Sam Hill's bike of choice for the 2019 EWS. But how does it fare against the competition?
Easy to ride fast
Very balanced
Excellent suspension
Cumbersome in certain situations
No bottle mount in the front triangle

This is a weird bike, and not because its name once belonged to a Midwest mid-nineties carbon and titanium component manufacturer. It’s weird because it combines forgiving geometry with unforgiving suspension… and it actually kinda works.

A great bike with superb tyres and incredible damping. Sizing won't suit everyone though and there's too much flex in the wheels. Buy if you’re in the market for a seriously well-mannered enduro bike that can be raced at the highest level straight off the shop floor
Great suspension that offers confidence and comfort when it counts
Geometry is great in the larger sizes
Dependable tyres that'll grip well and stave off punctures
Powerful, easy to control brakes
Medium frame feels like it could be longer
Wheels feel flexy when pushed hard
