Pros
  • Smooth and stable ride quality

  • Effective Future Shock suspension for comfort and control

  • Versatile with ample tire clearance and storage options

Cons

Specialized Diverge Expert E5 Evo review: Fun, not that fast, with flat bars - CyclingTips

nov. 2021 · Caley Fretz

The flat bars are polarizing, but the dedicated geometry makes the most of it.

Lows
  • Slower than most gravel bikes.

août 2021 · Dale Tiessen

Riding ‘off road’ on a road bike is nothing new. I have seen lots of days-gone-by pics of Tour de France riders with a tubular slung around their shoulders riding dirt roads.

Highs
  • Future Shock 2.0 provides effective small bump absorption for hands and body

  • SWAT box allows storage of tube, CO2, tire lever, and multi-tool inside frame, eliminating rear seat bag

  • GRX Di-2 1x drivetrain is wonderful and shift-by-wire is a first for reviewer

  • Roval Terra Carbon seatpost offers up to 18mm of compliance

  • Shortened stem with longer top tube creates comfortable riding position

  • Low and slack geometry (headtube angle similar to older 29er MTB)

Lows
  • Future Shock 2.0 is either on or off, with 6 clicks in the middle doing nothing

  • Future Shock 2.0 began squeaking audibly after about 5 rides

  • SWAT box provided bag does not fit larger gravel tube and 25g CO2 together with multi-tool

  • GRX chainrings minimum 40t and derailleur max 40t cog results in 1:1 gearing, inadequate for steep BC climbs

  • Stock tires are 38c, deemed too small for rough roads and singletrack

  • Factory spec lacks 650b wheels option even on flat bar EVO model

  • Specialized does not advertise the compliant seatpost as an overall feature
