A first look at the Scout Comp hardtail, the most interesting build and potentially the best value in Nukeproof's mountain bicycle lineup.
Creative, well-thought-out build with mix-and-match components
High-value spec for the price ($2,300 Comp model)
Excellent packaging with reusable straps and minimal plastic
Good out-of-box build quality (gears shifted perfectly, wheels spun true)
Geometry chart includes sagged numbers
Mix-and-match tire setup (harder compound rear, softer front)
House brand components (bottom bracket, headset) are at least as good as alternatives
Nukeproof Neutron V2 hubs with 36-point engagement
Frame weight 5.1 lbs for medium
Frame design looks good, especially seatstay/top tube junction
Z2 fork is 130mm travel instead of 140-150mm expected
Z2 fork needs a basic lower service out of the box
Sharp, untrimmed zip ties on an otherwise excellent build
Weird rear derailleur cable routing (routed across headtube)
No Canadian dealers or shipping to Canada yet
Cable routing to shifter is weird (could be twinned with rear brake)
SunRace cassette doesn't shift as well as Shimano Hyperglide+ under load

The Nukeproof Scout 275 Comp has seen a lot of development. Its low-slung profile remains, but the bike has been stretched to a more generous cockpit.
