Diving into Knolly's Titanium Hardtail after some time spent on the steel version...

Highs

  • Weighs 2lbs less than steel version

  • Larger hydroformed top and down tubes

  • Excellent welds

  • Beautiful headbadge

  • Rides just like the steel version, smooth and controlled

  • External derailleur and brake routing

  • 31.6mm seatpost standard

  • Fox 36 150mm fork

  • Great for climbing and single track

Lows

  • Internal dropper routing more complex than steel, potential friction issue

  • Bare chainstay vulnerable to noise and wear

  • High price: 7900 CAD for XT build

  • Cable noise from internal dropper housing

  • Stock Raceface Next R bars too stiff, 60mm stem too long

  • Not suitable for steep chutes and big G-outs

  • Technical climbs harder due to limited traction

  • 157 rear spacing is polarizing
