Review: Knolly Chilcotin 170 - They Haven't Just Straightened the Top Tube

abr 2024 · Henry Quinney

The Chilcotin rides (and looks) better than ever, but it's not without its quirks.

Highs
  • Excellent tracking with little feedback through your feet

  • Balanced geometry

  • Ultra long seatpost insertion

  • Muted and calm ride through fast chundery trails

  • Will hunt out grip on technical climbs

Lows
  • It felt too progressive for me when riding with the air shock

  • Punishes rear wheels on square edges

  • Not particularly snappy under accelerations

  • Spec could be more suited to the bike's capabilities

The Beta Tests: Knolly Chilcotin 167 Dawn Patrol

mar 2021 · Nicole Formosa

The Knolly Chilcotin 167 was built to hold up to the worst (and best) that BC has to offer, and for riders who expect nothing less.

Highs
  • Unmatched stability -Frame and hardware are built to last -Good value -Respectable climber for its weight and travel

Lows
  • May be too much bike for some -Not the all-rounder some enduro 29ers are

Knolly Chilcotin 167 First Look review

dic 2020

The new Knolly Chilcotin, a bike to ride up, over and blast down the mountains. Details live now on NSMB.com.

Highs
  • Versatile travel options (151mm-167mm)

  • Slack 63.8° head angle for descents

  • Long dropper post insertion (up to 200mm)

  • Adjustable geometry via shock mount holes (Neutral/Slack)

  • Quiet operation (chain stays clearance)

  • Solid build kit with Chromag parts

  • Alloy frame with titanium hardware

  • Spacious internal cable routing

  • Good climbing comfort and traction

Lows
  • Polarizing aesthetic

  • Bottom end SRAM Code R brakes with poor lever feel

  • Spank wheels have slow-engaging hub and are heavy

  • Reverb dropper post is least favourite

  • Minimal downtube protection (not a big concern for alloy)

  • Pre-production model with minor tweaks needed
