Highs Kingpin suspension improves comfort and handling with minimal weight penalty; Slack head tube angle, dialed suspension, and upright riding position open up possibilities on single track; Does a great job balancing confidence/capability on technical terrain without sacrificing an energetic/responsive ride feel

Lows Lefty Oliver fork is heavy and has inherent compatibility issues; Riders who prefer more traditional road-inspired geometry may find riding position too relaxed

Cannondale was one of the first brands to release a suspension equipped gravel bike way back in 2012, making the 2025 Topstone Carbon Lefty the culmination of 15 years of trial and error. Naturally, one would imagine the new bike would be pretty good, but to be honest, I’ve never been a fan of suspended gravel bikes, so I went into this review as a skeptic. But the Kingpin suspension design, paired with a lightweight, verstyle frame and build kit managed to win me over. That said, there are definitely faster or more comfortable bikes on the market, but for me, it felt like the Topstone hit the sweet spot.
