A fun gravel bike with a firm ride that's slightly let down by a middling build for the asking price
Lightweight
Quick on tarmac and gravel
Good contact points
Stiff alloy handlebar
Tyres not suitable for challenging conditions
Expensive for the spec

Crux is Specialized's premium gravel bike that comes with a lot of characteristics borrowed from both its cyclo-cross history and featherweight Aethos road bike. The lightweight carbon frame offers excellent comfort on gravel surfaces but, with this specific model, the rest of the bike spec is not up to the same level as the frame. A superlative in terms of price, weight and prestige. But can the Specialized S-Works Crux prevail against aero-optimised gravel racers?
Maximum riding fun
Lightweight frame and wheels make it the ultimate climber
Specialized Pathfinder Pro tires offer excellent handling and grip
For a lack of things to criticise, we didn’t like the shiny stem on the otherwise matte bike

An exceptionally light gravel bike that excels on the climbs and is a blast to ride fast

Fast off the road
Clean frame lines
Comfortable
Might not be 'gravel' enough for some
