Zusammenfassung

The Pivot Switchblade is a versatile enduro bike praised for its adaptable geometry, DW-link suspension, and ability to run both 29-inch and 27.5+ tires. It excels in descending with a stiff frame and efficient suspension, though some reviews note it could be more aggressive in steep terrain. The bike's climbing efficiency and grip are highlighted, but comfort issues like knee pain from crank design and overly stiff wheels are mentioned.

Pros
  • Versatile with ability to run 29-inch or 27.5+ tires

  • Stiff frame and DW-link suspension for confident descending

  • Short chainstay length improves handling

  • Super Boost Plus rear hub increases wheel stiffness

  • Adjustable geometry with lower headset cup

Cons
  • Overly stiff with Reynolds wheels, causing difficulty in holding a line

  • Does not inspire aggressive pedaling, prefers a seated approach

  • Effective seat angle feels slouched back when climbing

  • Race Face Aeffect crank results in a wider Q-factor, causing knee pain

  • Rear suspension can feel slightly outgunned on rough terrain

Bike Review | Pivot Switchblade Team XTR 29

Mai 2020

The element of “pop” can be tough to describe, but when it’s felt, the definition becomes crystal clear. The Pivot Switchblade is a pop machine, and it’s apparent from the very first pedal stroke. With DW-Link suspension, designed by the guru Dave Weagle himself, there’s no question as to where this indescribable amount of energy comes from, nor is there a question as to how to make the most of it. The Switchblade answers that itself by boosting off every jump and bump in sight. The same fundamentals that make this bike an instrument of antigravity also give it a uniquely agile feel for when it’s on the ground—even if those moments are rare. With short chain stays and a steeper seat-tube angle the Switchblade is a nimble climber that transfers pedal power to traction well, even while out of the saddle.

  • Sweet custom air shock but coil shock compatible too.

Tiefs
  • Very high price

  • Too progressive for most riders in stock form

  • Press Fit BB and option limiting Super Boost rear end

  • XTR brake pad rattle drove us nuts
