On paper Merida’s brand-new One-Forty platform looks rather mental but, in reality, it’s a very different animal than its geo chart suggests. It offers a unique-but-welcoming and practical ride that balances predictability with all-out fun. Its build kit has been wisely picked considering its asking price, too; making it one of the best trail mountain bikes you can buy.

Wie das Canyon Spectral setzt auch das Merida One-Forty auf breite 2,6er-Reifen, was einen etwa 0,3 bar niedrigeren Reifendruck zulässt. Das Resultat: mehr Grip und mehr Komfort.

Merida bietet das One-Forty lediglich mit Alu-Rahmen und 27,5"-Laufrädern an. Während die Laufradgröße Geschmacksache ist, ist die Wahl des Materials eher eine Preisfrage.

The new Merida One-Forty 800 is chunky on the scales as a complete package and okay rather than outstanding value on paper.
Outstandingly connected yet still playful ride quality, superb suspension and tyres, one of the best mid-travel bikes we’ve ridden
Relatively heavy, you can get a similar spec for less cash
