Transition started a short-offset movement with its new SBG geometry, and for his dream build, Photo Editor Anthony Smith asked, "How far can I take this?"

Rip turns ferociously on this notably agile all-mountain bike

Don’t let their joker attitude fool you; the new Transition Patrol Carbon is a serious bit of kit.
Great sizing and geometry
The contact points could be better

Transition's big bike offering has 155mm of rear travel, a long front center, slack head angle, and one very plush ride. - Mtbr.com

[ad3] Transition back in December 2015 announced the carbon version of the highly successful Patrol with lots of new features including their aptly named “Giddy Up” technology and our favourite T.I.T.S. technology. In-order to get a grasp of what all this means in real world riding Transition have sent us a large size frame-set to ride and test over the next few months. The aim is to see how various component builds fair on the frame and if we can come up with an ideal 2016 setup for Enduro. Geometry We start with the numbers, 65 degrees is pretty slack

You’ll need to be patient if you’re Patrolling far, but this slack angled, ultra surefooted impact eater is a proper bomber on the downs. Buy if you want an unruffled, traction-rich bike that'll stay calm when you bite off more than you can chew
DH-slack front end adds casual confidence
Ultra surefooted, high grip, corner hooking traction
Minimal-feedback suspension irons out chatter and swallows big hits
Needs extra compression damping or shock pressure to add pep and responsiveness
Slack head angle and soft suspension mean it can wander off line under power
