Specialized Turbo Levo Expert Carbon Review

Oct 2019 · Guy Kesteven

Specialized’s Turbo Levo FSR has set the benchmark for all round E-MTB performance, but what’s so great about it and what’s not? Guy Kesteven reports

Highs
  • Powerful, quiet and proven motor

  • Massive battery

  • Neat controls/app and excellent back up

  • Well balanced all round trail riding geometry with neutral set-and-forget suspension

Lows
  • Deserves tougher wheels and a fancier fork for the money

  • Carbon frame is impressively light but makes it expensive

PRICE£2250MODELSpecialized Turbo Levo HT 2019MOTORBrose 1.2eOur Score4 Pies and knees have kept me out of the game for some time, but I came back to mountain biking this summer after trying out a friend’s Kalkhof hybrid and realising that E*POWAH was the way forward. The steed I selected for my illustrious return to the trails and my first foray into the world of EMTBs was the Specialized Turbo Levo HT 2019. And I love it, though not unconditionally. Specialized Turbo Levo Hardtail Comp 6Fattie

May 2017

The Specialized Turbo Levo Hardtail Comp 6Fattie is a really interesting trail hardtail. With a super-quiet, smooth transmission and an integrated battery it looks and feels a lot like a non-powered hardtail, and it will appeal to people who want a bit of assistance in their riding without buying into the e-bike look. The app-based control is interesting too, and the whole experience feels very stripped back: no displays, not much changing of modes, just going out and riding.
