Review: Knolly Warden LT

Aug 2021 · Dan Roberts

Flat out speed isn't the Warden's forte, but it excels in the steeps and in softer terrain.

Highs
  • Confidence in steep and tech lines

  • All-day and all-trail ability

  • Fun, maneuverable and calm character

Lows
  • Not the best option for flat out and rough terrain

  • Geometry and sizing quirks to be aware of

  • Cable routing, protection and pivot details need attention

Riding the 2021 Knolly Warden LT

Nov 2020

Knolly has a new series of bikes out. I've been out on the Warden LT, and here to report on what it's like.

Highs
  • Steep seat tube angle for climbing

  • Stable climbing position with front wheel planted

  • Reasonable climbing efficiency for a 170mm travel bike

  • Playful and agile handling

  • Stiff aluminium frame

  • Quality build kit with Fox suspension and Shimano XT drivetrain

  • Good climbing capability with 30-tooth chain ring

Lows
  • Undersized EXO+ MaxxTerra tires prone to flats

  • Tire compound too hard for wet roots and rocks

  • Noisy bike (seatpost creaks, cable rattle, front end creaking)

  • Seatpost rotation issues

  • Left crank fell off

  • Short rear center makes bike nervous at high speed

  • Geometry feels dated for 2020

  • Suspension not progressive enough, bottoms out frequently

  • Bushing friction in linkage

  • Derailleur exploded due to 157mm rear end width

  • Cockpit feels smaller than reach suggests

Review: The Knolly Warden LT eats up the rough stuff without losing its balance

Jun 2020 · Steve Fisher

Knolly's Warden LT makes short work of rough terrain, but it's not just a big softie. It also has a supportive side that encourages you to earn your turns!
