Cube Stereo Hybrid 160 HPC Actionteam 625 27.5 2020 review

May 2020

Cube's snappily named Stereo Hybrid 160 HPC Actionteam 625 27.5 is a full-fat e-MTB that offers up a large battery capacity and latest generation Bosch drive unit mated to a sleek carbon frame with solid trail-taming capability and some great kit for the money. The only real issues were an unexplained rattle from the motor unit and the substantial weight. Buyer's guide: electric mountain bikes - all you need to know about e-bikes Is it worth converting your mountain bike to tubeless?

Tested: Cube Stereo Hybrid 140 Race 500 27.5

May 2019

The Cube Stereo Hybrid 140 Race 500 27.5 has an interminable name, though much easier to ride than pronounce while climbing a steep hill. The Stereo Hybrid uses a finely finished aluminium frame with sharp angles and a robust, industrial presence, 27.5” wheels wrapped in meaty 2.6” Schwalbe tyres, and the excellent Bosch Performance CX …

Highs
  • Excellent value.

  • Comfortable and composed.

  • Bosch CX motor runs very well.

Lows
  • Too conservative for aggressive riding.

  • Needs tubeless valves.

Cube Stereo Hybrid 140 HPA Race 500 e-MTB review

Nov 2017 · Guy Kesteven

Impressively smooth in a straight line, but noise and conservative handling limits confidence. Buy if you want an impressive-looking bike with straight-up power

Highs
  • Powerful motor and plush suspension are great in a straight line

  • Reinforced rear tyre improves survivability

Lows
  • Conservative shape and handling plus 180mm brakes make it a struggle to control its DH-bike-like weight when things get steep, fast and twisty

  • Bosch motor is noisy and blunt in operation, and battery rattle is irritating

Cube Stereo Hybrid 160 HPA SL 500 (2017) first ride - MBR

Jul 2017 · Mick Kirkman

With the 2017 Cube Stereo Hybrid 160 HPA SL 500 the ultimate power-assisted enduro rig is no longer just an electric dream.

Highs
  • Literally smashes through any ground right up to full on DH terrain. Makes climbing exciting and delivers more of the good stuff in every ride.

Lows
  • 160mm travel e-bikes are incredibly tough on equipment, especially the drivetrain. Frame shape is taller and shorter than most modern enduro bikes.
