The high-end, superlight version of Canyon's 130 mm touring rocket, the Neuron CF SLX 9.0 LTD has a new frame and is designed to hit the sweet spot between comfort and riding fun. But what are the limits of this ultimate all-rounder when it comes to trail performance? Can it be the perfect bike for both Alpencross and home trails?

Climbs well
Lively, direct character
Great value for money
Tires lack grip
Nervous at high speeds

When Canyon updated its trail-oriented 29er, the Neuron, about a year ago, we found it to be quick, efficient and level-headed. It takes a more classic

A fantastic bit of kit for XC riders with a penchant to get a little rad and rowdy some of the time. Its geometry is fairly conservative though, but the bike is comfortable and composed in most situations on both the descents and ascents.
Value for money, great suspension and should appeal to a fairly broad range of people
Conservative geometry and its intentions can sometimes outgun its ability

The Canyon Neuron is a value-packed trail bike that falls more on the cross-country side of the spectrum.
A very much all-around XC/Trail bike
Excellent spec for the price
No S or XS in 29" versions and the tall seat mast height limits the size medium
Geometry isn't all that modern
Impact Protection Unit (IPU) could be annoying for some riders
