The New Canyon Lux Trail is Not Simply a Lux with a Longer Fork

Aug 2021 · Travis Engel

Most brands just add travel to their XC bikes to make a trail version, but the Canyon Lux Trail has an entirely new front triangle.

Field Test: 2020 Canyon Lux - A Very Fast Baseline

Jul 2020 · Sarah Moore

Relatively speaking, it feels like you’re a long way over the front of the Lux when descending and, while I tried riding with and without the seat down, I was really glad this bike had a dropper post for steeper sections.

Highs
  • Ultra efficient feel on smooth, less technical climbs

  • Shimano XTR gear ratios, great shifting under load

  • It has a dropper, even if the setup isn't ideal

  • $2,500 USD less than the closest priced bike

Lows
  • Relatively harsh feeling suspension

  • Geo holds it back when the terrain is challenging

Review | The 2020 Canyon Lux CF SL 8.0 Is A Near-Perfect XC Race Bike

Dec 2019

Adorned with 29in wheels and 100mm of rear wheel travel, the Lux is Canyon's super light, full suspension XC speedster. Brand new for 2019, the latest generation Lux has been completely re-engineered with a new carbon fibre chassis that shares very little in common with the old model. Read on for the full review.

Highs
  • The lightweight, practical and spacious frame design

  • Fantastic power transfer

  • Razor-sharp handling

  • Love the trick Quixle rear axle!

Lows
  • Dual lockout creates a very stiff, awkward lever throw

  • The SID fork isn't the most supple performer

  • The unloveable Selle Italia saddle

Canyon Lux CF SL 8.0 Pro Race review

Jul 2019

Canyon's Lux CF SL 8.0 Race is a super high value and blisteringly quick cross-country race bike that can also take some rapid trail riding in its stride. The suspension and geometry work well for the intended task but the Gripshifter is a very odd component choice that undermines control and needs changing. The best mountain bikes you can buy for under £1,500 - full sus and hardtails Is it worth converting your mountain bike to tubeless?

Canyon Lux CF SLX 9.0 Pro Race 2019 review - MBR

Mar 2019 · James Bracey

Canyon Lux CF SLX 9.0 Pro Race sticks to 100mm of rear wheel but it now has both 100mm and 110mm front travel options dependent which model you choose.

Highs
  • Almost perfect balance of XC race weight and trail bike handling.

  • Component spec.

  • Climbs like you have a motor.

Lows
  • Handlebar could be a little wider.
