2021 Cannondale Jekyll 1 Bike

Feb 2022 · jonathon Simonetti

High-pivot mountain bikes are becoming commonplace but the Jekyll's performance is anything but.

Highs
  • Rides light

  • Carries its speed well

  • Lively, nimble enduro machine

  • Adding a coil improves diversity

  • A race bike with everyday riding manners

Lows
  • Stock wheels

  • Stock air shock can have it feeling skittish in loose situations

  • Shock adjustments are hard to reach

Dec 2021

Along with its hidden shock, idler wheel and shape-shifting paint job, this is no doubt a thoroughly striking machine. But is different better? Read on for our Cannondale Jekyll review.

Highs
  • Beautifully balanced handling

  • Gobs of traction & high-speed stability

  • Scaled rear centre sizing

  • Reliable shifting & powerful braking

  • Gorgeous iridescent paint job

Lows
  • Dropper post is too short

  • Needs a tougher rear tyre

  • Stock wheels are cheap

  • Rocks can bounce around in the shock cavity

Cannondale Jekyll 1 review

Sep 2021 · Robin Weaver

Cannondale has done a great job with the Jekyll. It’s stable, composed and seriously quick, but a better set of wheels would elevate its performance even further

Highs
  • Great geometry

  • Super stable and composed

  • Solid spec that’s ready to be raced

Lows
  • Wheelset could be better as rims are easy to ding and spokes can lose tension

  • Rocks can find their way into the shock cavity

The Jekyll is back with 165mm of travel, 29" wheels, and a whole new look.

Highs
  • Extremely smooth and composed in rough terrain

  • Well supported pedaling performance

  • Color changing paint job makes it stand out, in a good way

Lows
  • Idler drag is noticeable when climbing

  • Potential for debris to get into the Gravity Cavity

  • Wheelset isn't up to bike's capabilities

The Jekyll stands out on the descents because of its short chainstays and ground-hugging suspension. It stands out on the climbs because of its secret weapon, the Gemini shock, which makes it potentially the best climber in the bunch.
