2021 Alchemy Arktos 120 XT 12-Speed 29 Bike

Jul 2022 · Jason_Schroeder

Alchemy’s shortest travel Arktos model is a 120mm travel downhill ripper with a balanced focus on climbing efficiency.

[Tested] Alchemy Arktos 150 MX

Dec 2021 · Ian Collins

It’s been quite some time since I’ve tested a bike with somewhat unconventional suspension kinematics. Enter the Alchemy Arktos 150 –  in this case, the Arktos 150 MX. It has a mullet wheel setup and 170mm front travel paired with 150mm of rear travel. Utilizing “Sine” suspension – aptly named after a sine wave, the bike has a rate that runs regressive to progressive, then regressive again. That right there is the unconventional part, but more on the topic of kinematics later. Something that’s interesting about the Arktos lineup is just how neatly spread across the travel/duty spectrum it is.

Tested: Alchemy Arktos GX

Aug 2021

After decades of wild experimentation and steady evolution, mountain bike frame geometry and suspension designs are approaching near perfection. It’s a truly great time to ride mountain bikes. But that doesn’t mean there’s no more room for progression; high-pivot suspension designs and gearbox drivetrains are just two examples of where things might be headed.

Alchemy Arktos 29 ST review

Dec 2019 · Mick Kirkman

Well-rounded, fast trail ripper with a deeper suspension feel than its 120mm promises

Highs
  • Highly efficient, smooth pedaller with great climbing manners

  • Calm and solid feel downhill that defies the short-travel rear end

  • Frame feels stiff and solid

Lows
  • Feels so planted that the ride leans towards safe and assured, rather than pure shred-factor

  • Suspension jolts a tad on big hits

Review: Alchemy Arktos 29 ST

Oct 2019 · Richard Cunningham

Alchemy's latest trail bike makes a compelling argument that less equals more.

Highs
  • Good pedaling, confidence inspiring carbon chassis

  • Pro bike components and performance for an attainable price

Lows
  • Low bottom bracket could be an issue

  • You'll need a hydration pack for serious rides
